Design Challenge: Work with the Orangeville Ontario Fire Station to improve the health and safety of firefighters through reducing cross-contamination after an event.
intro about the project and premise and program
I then sketched, modeled, and 3D printed prototypes to test my designs, material use, print orientation, and support material.
The final result is Bye Bye, a sassy 3D printed pair of shoes that flexes with your foot. The 2 piece outsole is printed from PLA on an Ultimaker2, and the comfortable insole is printed out of NinjaFlex on a Dremmel. The two slide together with a teardrop dovetail joint running the length of the shoe resulting in a secure, stylish, and adhesive-free marriage. The straps thread through slots in the outsole and can be switched out to match any outfit. Bye Bye’s quirky tread leaves a statement in your path as you walk away to brighter things.
